Level 1 BSL SEN Teaching Assistant - Long-Term Full-Time Role

Randstad Education is currently seeking a committed and compassionate Level 1 British Sign Language (BSL) SEN Teaching Assistant for a long-term, full-time position at a supportive school in Didsbury. This is an exciting opportunity to work 1:1 with students who have compounded and complex needs, making a real difference in their educational and personal development.
We are looking for individuals who bring a holistic approach to support, can collaborate effectively with colleagues and families, and are confident in providing personalised care and communication support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to pupils with SEN, including those with hearing impairments and complex needs
- Use Level 1 BSL to support communication where required
- Assist with personal care and promote independence and self-confidence
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and families to implement EHCPs
- Foster a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
- Adapt learning materials and communication methods to meet individual needs
Essential Requirements
- Level 1 BSL qualification (or equivalent communication experience)
- Minimum 6 month's experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant in a UK school
- Must have or be willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
- Comfortable supporting students with personal care needs
- Strong understanding of compounded and complex SEN
- Available to work full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
- Full eligibility to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
Desirable Attributes
- Experience supporting students with hearing impairments or communication barriers
- Ability to work across both Primary and Secondary SEN settings
- Team player with excellent communication skills and a holistic, child-centred approach
- Familiarity with implementing and tracking EHCP targets
