We are seeking a dedicated Legal Secretary to join our team, specialising in court work. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and has a keen interest in supporting legal proceedings and court functions.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Prepare and manage court documents, including briefs, pleadings, and appeals.
- Schedule and confirm court dates, appointments, and meetings for attorneys.
- Transcribe legal documents, correspondence, and reports from dictation, handwritten notes, or formatting software.
- Maintain and organise files, including case files, attorney calendars, and client records.
- Assist attorneys in collecting information such as employment, medical, and other records.
- Ensure all court-related deadlines are met.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, and maintain the attorney's calendar.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Legal Secretary, preferably with a focus on court work.
- Familiarity with legal documents, court procedures, and legal terminology.
- Proficient in MS Office and comfortable with legal software systems.
- Excellent typing and transcription skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
