Commercial Legal Indemnity UnderwriterLocation: Remote / Hybrid (depending on location)Salary: Competitive + Excellent Benefits

Are you an experienced commercial legal indemnity underwriter ready for your next challenge? This is a fantastic opportunity to join an innovative and respected specialist insurer, working at the forefront of bespoke risk solutions for the property and estate administration sectors.

You’ll play a pivotal role in underwriting complex commercial risks, from high-value defective title policies to tailored estate administration solutions. Working within a collaborative and knowledgeable team, you’ll use your technical expertise to deliver accurate, competitive, and compliant underwriting decisions — all while building lasting relationships with brokers, solicitors, and clients.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Underwrite a diverse portfolio of commercial legal indemnity risks, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and profitability.

  • Assess technical risks with confidence, producing detailed underwriting notes and comprehensive justifications for decisions.

  • Price policies competitively in line with rating guidelines, market trends, and business objectives.

  • Approve cases within your delegated authority limits and support colleagues with complex queries.

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with brokers and professional partners to secure repeat business and referrals.

  • Stay ahead of legal, regulatory, and market developments, completing a minimum of 15 hours CPD annually.

  • Contribute to product development, process improvements, and system enhancements to keep the offering competitive and innovative.

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience underwriting commercial legal indemnity insurance, OR a strong commercial conveyancing/private client law background with knowledge of title and estate administration risks.

  • Deep understanding of defective title and complex commercial property risks.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make sound, evidence-based decisions.

  • Confident communicator with a proven ability to build relationships in the commercial property and insurance markets.

  • Positive, proactive approach with the ability to balance technical accuracy and commercial awareness.

Why join this business?

  • Be part of a forward-thinking, award-winning company with a specialist focus.

  • Handle challenging and interesting commercial cases, not just volume underwriting.

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.

  • Flexible working arrangements with remote/hybrid options.

  • Real opportunities for professional growth and career progression.
