About the Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Legal Cashier to join their finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations in accordance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance and accuracy in all legal accounting matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately processing financial transactions related to client, office, and nominal accounts, including posting receipts, cheques, and purchase ledger invoices.
- Ensuring all transactions comply with Solicitors' Accounts Rules and other relevant regulations.
- Maintaining detailed records of all financial transactions and ensuring accuracy.
- Handling electronic payments, issuing cheques, and managing petty cash.
- Reconciling bank accounts and identifying any discrepancies.
- Dealing with internal and external inquiries related to financial matters.
- Providing support to the finance team and assisting with other administrative duties as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Legal Cashier within a law firm.
- Strong working knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules.
- Proficiency in legal accounting software (e.g., LEAP, SOS, Proclaim, etc.).
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional and discreet with confidential information.
Desirable
- AAT qualification or equivalent (preferred but not essential).
- Previous experience is essential for this role.
- Familiarity with HMRC regulations and reporting.
