Legal Cashier

We are a top 100 legal firm looking for a meticulous Legal Cashier to join our finance team in Guildford. This full-time role offers a competitive salary and the opportunity to work within a prestigious and dynamic legal environment. The successful candidate will handle all monetary transactions and financial matters within the firm, ensuring compliance with the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Process client and office account transactions including cheque issuance, electronic payments, and cash handling.
• Maintain and reconcile client and office bank accounts.
• Prepare daily banking and ensure all receipts and payments are processed accurately.
• Manage petty cash transactions and maintain accurate records.
• Assist with month-end and year-end processes, including account reconciliation and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules and other legal and regulatory requirements.
• Deal with fee earner queries and provide support to the finance team.
• Process client billing and assist with credit control activities.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory documents as required.
• Assist with financial audits by providing information and documentation to auditors.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Legal Cashier within a law firm.
• Strong understanding of the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules.
• Excellent numeracy skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in legal accounting software and MS Office.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• AAT qualification or similar is desirable but not essential.
