Are you looking for a rewarding role supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Learning Support Mentor to join a dedicated Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in South Manchester. This long-term, full-time position is ideal for someone passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. This is a highly rewarding role for individuals with experience in education, youth work, or mental health support. As a Learning Support Mentor, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students aged 11-16
  • Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation
  • Support the delivery of personalised learning plans
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies
  • Help students re-engage with education in a structured, therapeutic setting

What You'll Need to Succeed

To be successful in this Learning Support Mentor role, you will need:

  • Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
  • A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Qualifications in education, psychology, youth work, or related fields are desirable but not essential.
