We are currently looking for a compassionate Special Needs Support assistant to assist in our educational setting, focusing on children with complex needs such as autism and ASD. This position is available on a temporary basis with a strong possibility of becoming permanent. Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide targeted support to children with complex needs, facilitating both academic and personal growth.
- Implement tailored educational plans and behavioural strategies to meet the specific needs of each child.
- Employ various educational tools and methods to aid in sensory, cognitive, and emotional development.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team including educators, therapists, and families to ensure comprehensive support.
- Regularly assess and document the progress of children, adjusting strategies to better meet their needs.
- Maintain a supportive and safe learning environment that encourages well-being and security.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in supporting children with special educational needs, particularly autism and ASD.
- A deep understanding of the unique challenges these children face and effective strategies to support them.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a team and family members.
- High levels of patience and empathy, with a strong commitment to fostering children’s development.
- Educational background in Special Needs Education, Psychology, or a related field is advantageous.
