About the roleWe are looking to recruit a Lead Teacher for Complex Cases, working countywide, whose primary responsibilities will include:
The key function of the SEND Specialist Advice and Support Service (SENDSAS) is to ensure that the educational and developmental progress of children and young people (0-25), with a range of SEND, is met in line with the Hertfordshire Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Strategy and Children’s Services strategic objectives.
The Speech, Language Communication and Autism team provide specialist support for schools/settings in ensuring that appropriate provision is in place to meet the needs of children and young people with autism and/or SLCN (with or without diagnosis).
The Complex Cases team forms part of the SLCA team and works closely with schools and professionals across a broad range of services, including children’s mental health support services, to ensure high quality support/advice is available to meet the needs of children and young people with complex social communication difficulties, social, emotional, and mental health needs and autism across the county.
They contribute to the writing and delivery of schools’ training to support children and young people on their caseload, and provide specialised advisory reports which contribute to the planning of educational opportunities for Children Looked After, children known to Social Care, children with mental health needs, refugees, children in care homes, travellers and children awaiting specialist placement with complex needs or in complex situations.

This role is ideal for those who have previous experience in specialist schools, who have experience as a senior team leader in a SEND educational setting or who have extensive SEND experience. You will be comfortable acting in an advisory capacity and liaising with internal and external parties, families and undertaking school and home visits.
