Join our dedicated team as a Lead Family Support Worker, where you will provide crucial support and mentorship to families experiencing both short and long-term challenges. This role is pivotal in empowering SEND children and their families to overcome various social and personal issues, enhancing their ability to thrive in challenging environments.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Conduct initial assessments of family needs to plan and provide necessary support, preventing escalation of issues.
- Regularly review caseloads through home and community visits, ensuring families are supported to progress and achieve desired outcomes.
- Collaborate with social workers, colleagues, and multi-agency networks to evaluate needs and monitor progress.
- Manage your own workload, including administration and diary commitments.
- Assess and enhance parenting skills through practical activities, improving physical and emotional care capabilities.
- Support children in their learning and development, ensuring consistent school attendance through outreach efforts.
- Educate parents on various educational and play strategies, and provide practical home management tips.
- Offer budgeting advice to help families manage household expenses effectively.
- Coach, mentor, and motivate families, highlighting the benefits of engaging in relevant activities.
- Maintain meticulous records of all interactions and ensure compliance with professional standards and legislation.
- Provide support during family crises, such as a hospitalization, and attend court sessions when necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a social services, health, or educational setting.
- Strong ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with diverse groups.
- Knowledge of local service provisions for effective signposting and referrals.
- Commitment to professional practice standards and relevant legislation, including safeguarding and confidentiality policies.
- Ability to manage crises and maintain professionalism under pressure.
