Lead Engineer - Henderson Brown Manufacturing : Job Details

We are recruiting for a Lead Engineer to join a fast-paced food manufacturing site in North Lincolnshire.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on engineering leader to join a growing production facility based in Scunthorpe. You'll be responsible for leading and supporting a multi-skilled maintenance team across a 24/7 operation, helping to drive engineering performance, reliability, and continuous improvement. This will be working on a 4 on 4 off days and nights shift pattern.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of engineers during your shift, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
• Work directly with production teams to prioritise engineering support and reduce equipment downtime
• Take ownership of shift handovers, delivering clear communication and updates to incoming teams and supervisors
• Actively participate in both reactive and planned maintenance, offering hands-on support where needed
• Analyse breakdowns and downtime, producing detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports and supporting long-term fixes
• Collaborate with operations, planning, and procurement to ensure timely access to spare parts and resources

Skills & Experience Required:

• Recognised engineering qualification (mechanical, electrical, or multi-skilled)
• Previous experience in a supervisory or lead role within a manufacturing maintenance team
• Strong capability in fault finding and repair of automated equipment, including PLC-based systems
• Proven ability to coach, develop and mentor technicians
• Understanding of engineering best practices and health & safety procedures in a production setting
• Experience in carrying out training assessments and contributing to skills development plans
• Familiarity with food production or FMCG environments is preferred, but not essential
