About the Role

This role is part of the Grounds Maintenance and Landscape Services team. As a Landscape Operative, you will assist the Landscape Construction Foreman in delivering agreed landscape construction programmes while maintaining a high standard, cost-effective, and customer-focused service.

You will play a crucial role in the implementation of landscape construction project plans and collaborate with clients, Council staff, the community, and stakeholders to deliver and represent Dorset Council's services.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering landscape construction projects
• Stand in for the Landscape Construction Foreman when required
• Ensure effective and efficient service delivery
• Implement landscape project plans
• Work collaboratively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders
• Promote and represent Dorset Council and its partners
• Carry out any other comparable duties as required

Qualifications and Skills

• Ability to work in a physically demanding role outdoors in all weather conditions
• Experience using powered equipment such as chainsaws and disc cutters
• Awareness and understanding of Health & Safety (including risk assessments and PPE use)
• Ability to safely operate vehicles and tow trailers (on and off-road)
• Experience in manual outdoor work and safe tool handling
• Good communication skills and the ability to resolve disputes and handle unexpected issues
• A proactive, team-oriented, and customer-focused approach
