Reed Scientific is excited to partner with a leading biotechnology company to recruit a Laboratory Operations Technician. This role is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a passion for science and operations to make a significant impact in the development of new medicines.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Collaborate within a small, agile laboratory operations team to ensure efficient laboratory and facility operations.
  • Support scientific teams by supplying microbiological media and reagents, ensuring clean glassware supply, and managing lab waste disposal.
  • Manage the supply of compressed gas and liquid nitrogen, including changing gas cylinders and refilling cryo storage vessels.
  • Maintain well-stocked laboratories, including ordering, receipt, and distribution of supplies.
  • Conduct basic laboratory and facilities checks and assist with maintenance by coordinating and hosting on-site engineers.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety Regulations at all times.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a lab support role is ideal but not essential. Candidates with some understanding of working in lab environments, even from school qualifications such as GCSEs and A-levels, are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience from a summer placement or through a Master's program is acceptable, especially if it includes relevant experience as per the job specification.
  • While a degree is beneficial, candidates without a degree but with relevant experience in stock control, waste management, or similar operational support within scientific environments are also considered.
  • Essential skills include preparation of sterile laboratory supplies, stock management, and laboratory health and safety practices.
  • Strong team player with a flexible approach to teamwork.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and willing to learn with good numeracy skills and manual dexterity.
  • High levels of attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to multitask.
  • Excellent organisational skills, work ethic, and effective communication skills.
