An experienced Lab Analyst is required by our client a leading and global supplier of ingredients based in Kent. The Lab Analyst works as part of the Quality Control Laboratory and will be responsible for the analysis of samples, chemical and consumable upkeep, ordering and inventory, waste and safety records, routine equipment maintenance, and managing daily work allocation. The main day to day duties will be:

• Work as part of the team to prepare and coordinate daily activities in the laboratory relating to the analysis of samples in the laboratory.
• Maintain safety records and Material Safety Data Sheets
• General health & safety of laboratory within the laboratory.
• Maintain good hygiene and housekeeping at all times
• Maintain effective communication with other departments
• Check analytical results and issue reports
• Investigate failures and carry out corrective action
• Work with the other laboratory staff to participate in customer P-tests.
• Conducting vitamin and mineral analysis to achieve product release.
• Involved in analytical method development/transfer and validation plus report writing.
• Required to follow up on analytical issues and conduct trouble-shooting investigations
• Significant input in the authorship of SOPs
• Be able to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the lab
• Have the opportunity to be involved in different internal projects

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2-3 years Laboratory experience in the Food or Pharmaceutical industry in a QC or R&D capacity. You will have a high level of numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail. Will also have the ability to plan ahead effectively and be a self-starter. Must be experienced in HPLC analysis and methodology. LC-MS, UPC2 or ICP experience will be beneficial. A Degree is preferred but not essential. Good benefits.
