We are looking for someone with administration and customer service experience who has an interest in purchasing, procurement and buying to take up a Junior Buyer role with a well established business in Hove in the engineering sector. Working as part of a small team you will conduct varied administrative tasks, liaise with suppliers and spend a day a week in the warehouse learning about the products and parts.
As a Junior Buyer you will:
- Assist the Buyer and the Operations Manager as part of a very small team
- Chase suppliers for the best delivery times, occasionally travelling to collect stock items
- Initially spend one day a week in the store room to learn parts and products
- Help to identify and select suppliers and services
- Negotiate the best prices, while maintaining best quality
- Purchase components and materials
- Maintain an accurate and up to date supplier list and database
Skills & experience required:
- A full UK driving licence is required, a pool car is available for use during the working day
- Strong administration abilities and skills in the Microsoft Office suite such as Excel and Outlook
- Highly organised
- Flexibility to undertake tasks in other departments
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate prices and contracts
Salary, hours and company benefits:
- £25,000 starting salary
- 37.5 hours a week, Mon - Thurs 7:45am to 4:30pm and Friday’s 7:45am to 12:15pm
