Interventions Teaching Assistant Required in Leeds

About the role:

At Engage Education, we’ve specialised in recruiting teaching assistants for over a decade, so we know a bit about finding the ideal school for you. We’re currently looking for an enthusiastic Interventions Teaching Assistant to work with primary aged pupils.

This will involve working with small groups of children who have a lower ability and need extra academic support in certain areas to help improve their pupil progress. Some of these students may be learning below the national average or may have learning difficulties or special educational needs. Interventions experience in a UK school setting is required and you must be familiar with the curriculum. In addition to supporting children with their interventions you will also be required to take on general teaching assistant duties as well as reporting pupil progress to the class teacher.

Our team has built an excellent reputation in the local area, and we’re looking for more high quality teaching assistants to work with these schools to positively impact the progress and attainment of their pupils.

Interventions support will be needed for the following areas;- Phonics - Read, Write Inc or Little Wandle experience would be an advantage- Maths- Reading- Spelling- Writing

Our Interventions Teaching Assistants’ duties can include:

  • Working with small groups of pupils

  • Working on a one-to-one basis with children with additional needs

  • Providing personal and emotional care for pupils when needed

  • Managing classroom behaviour

  • Providing intervention/SATS support for students

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Some experience working with young children or in a UK school setting within the last 2 years

  • A real passion for education and improving the attainment of pupils

  • Bags of creativity for stimulating and engaging pupils’

  • Level 3 support staff qualification is desired but is not essential providing you have professional Special Needs experience
