Interim Market Operations Manager
- Location: Rotherham, Fully Office-Based
- Contract: Interim with possibility of permanent opportunity
- Working Hours: 5 days per week, 37 hours, including occasional Saturdays (8:30am–5:00pm)
- Pay Rate: £21.51 per hour PAYE or £28.05 per hour via Umbrella
We are urgently seeking an Interim Market Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of Rotherham’s indoor market. This role is critical due to the retirement of the previous manager and the current challenges faced by the market, including reduced footfall. The successful candidate will provide strong, hands-on leadership to stabilise operations and support the team.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Oversee daily operations of the indoor market, ensuring smooth functioning from 8:30am to 5:00pm.
- Lead administrative, rent collection, and manual teams, including the setup and takedown of the street market.
- Serve as a visible, approachable presence for traders and customers, ensuring high service standards and professional dispute resolution.
- Monitor budgets, ensuring value for money, and advise senior managers on operational issues and improvement strategies.
- Regulate private markets, fairs, and circuses within Rotherham.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and manage multi-occupancy environments.
- Support transition planning for the temporary outdoor market.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Experience managing retail or multi-use environments, preferably at a senior level.
- Market management experience is preferred.
- Proven team leadership and performance management skills.
- Effective communication and strong organisational skills.
- Budget management and reporting experience.
- Proficiency in ICT (Word, Excel, email, internet).
- Practical understanding of Health & Safety in public-facing environments.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and sometimes challenging setting with resilience and professionalism.
