An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Interim Commercial Business Partner to join a central government department and support their commercial operations at a strategic level.
We're looking for a commercially focused professional with proven experience in public procurement and contract management to lead on high-value procurements and provide expert advice to stakeholders across the organisation.

Description
- Lead procurement activity across a range of services including research, consultancy, contingent labour, software/hardware, and grant administration.
- Ensure all procurement is carried out in line with Public Procurement Regulations, delivering value for money and minimising risk.
- Act as a trusted commercial advisor, providing clear, strategic guidance to internal stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Draft and manage key commercial documents, including contracts, licences, and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).
- Support and contribute to wider contract and supplier relationship management activities.
- Promote best practices in procurement, governance, and compliance across the organisation.
- Drive continuous improvement in commercial processes and help deliver innovative procurement solutions.
Profile
A successful Interim Commercial Business Partner should have:
- Strong background in public sector procurement, with hands-on experience leading complex procurements.
- Thorough understanding of commercial risk management and public procurement legislation.
- Confident communicator able to challenge and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven ability to work at pace, manage multiple workstreams, and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with contract management, including implementing processes and managing supplier relationships.
- Strong commercial acumen with a focus on delivering value for money.
Job Offer
- A day rate of £550 per day inside IR35
- Interim role until February with potential for extension
