Interim Business Manager

  • Contract Duration: 6 months
  • Job Type: Hybrid (2 days in Bedford, 3 days working from home)
  • Daily Rate: £300 (inside IR35 via Umbrella)
  • Location: Bedford

We are seeking an Interim Business Manager to play a crucial role in the smooth operation of our directorate. You will work closely with the director, managing their diaries and emails, and ensuring optimal use of their time by focusing on critical areas and delegating other tasks effectively. This position offers a blend of executive assistance and business management, providing a unique opportunity to enhance your business acumen and experience in a dynamic environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Act as the public face of the Director, managing interactions with senior stakeholders and embodying the organisation's values: transforming, connecting, caring.
  • Manage the flow of information, ensuring the Director's involvement in projects and decision-making at appropriate times.
  • Assist in the execution and control of key approval processes, and prepare high-quality briefings and papers for the Executive Leadership Team and Board.
  • Manage the Director's email inbox, prioritising and delegating tasks to ensure focus on essential communications.
  • Provide proactive diary management, resolving schedule conflicts and optimising time management.
  • Prepare for meetings, ensuring the Director has all necessary information and distributing agendas or documents to attendees.
  • Offer general business support as needed, including minute taking, record maintenance, and coordination of internal and external meetings.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a business manager or executive assistant role at a director level, providing high-level corporate support.
  • Excellent command of the English language with strong note-taking skills for minute taking and correspondence.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team, exercising sound judgement and initiative.
  • Capability to manage complex and highly confidential information.
  • Effective and confident communication skills, able to liaise effectively at various levels.
  • Advanced proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Practical, proactive, and calm under pressure.
  • Ability to plan, organise, and manage conflicting demands effectively.
