Hays Accountancy & Finance are supporting a leading manufacturing business who requires temporary support until December 2025, in their finance team based in central Norwich, where you will take responsibility for focusing on the month-end close preparation, which will include preparing financial reports, supporting accounts payables and receivables, supporting budgeting, forecasting and conducting variance analysis.

Your new role

In this temporary Accounts Analyst / Assistant Management Accountant job, you will support the Senior Management Accountant with typical month-end duties which will include:

• Review and verify invoices for appropriate documentation prior to payment
• Perform monthly reconciliations
• Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up-to-date
• Prepare analysis of accounts, as required
• Assist with month-end closing
• Provide supporting documentation for audits
• Manage and track financial transactions and create financial reports
• Analyse and interpret financial data and recommend changes to improve systems and financial performance
• Work closely with the financial team to assist in budgeting and forecasting
• Analyse financial data and create reports for management
• Prepare financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
• Track expenses and revenues vs. budget and re-forecast and analyse fluctuations
• Perform monthly balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analysis
• Research and resolve accounting issues including invoice discrepancies and other issues
• Recommend financial actions by analysing accounting options

What you'll need to succeed

We are looking for an interim accountant with proven experience as an Accounts Analyst or in a similar financial-sector role, with an excellent understanding of accounting principles for month / year-end balance sheet reconciliations, production of profit & loss reporting, posting journal corrections and general analysis of accounts.You need to have intermediate / advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc) along with Sage and be willing to give commitment to an interim role until December 2025.What you'll get in return

As explained, this is a temporary finance job paying circa £32,000 - £35,000 depending on experience working 8.00am - 4.45pm Monday to Thursday and finishing on Friday at 12.30pm.
