Indirect Tax Manager - Reed : Job Details

A leading global organisation headquartered in Central London is seeking a highly experienced Head of Indirect Tax to join on a 12-month FTC. In this role you will oversee VAT compliance across multiple European business units, provide strategic input on cross-border projects, and support system implementations and business initiatives from an indirect tax perspective.

This is an advisory role where you will serve as the primary contact for all European indirect tax matters, ensuring compliance, managing risk, and identifying opportunities for tax efficiencies.

• Be the go-to expert for complex indirect tax matters, offering proactive, solutions-focused advice that adds real value.
• Lead on high-profile VAT advisory projects, working closely with senior stakeholders across the business.
• Drive the digital transformation of the tax function, championing initiatives like e-invoicing and real-time reporting.
• Manage VAT audits and correspondence with tax authorities across Europe, ensuring a smooth and compliant process.
• Build strong, collaborative relationships with European business units and trusted external advisors.
• Take ownership of VAT compliance for head office entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Strengthen internal controls and processes to reduce risk and support long-term compliance.
• Partner with finance, legal, and commercial teams to embed tax into everyday business decisions.
• Mentor and develop a junior VAT Manager, helping them grow and succeed.
• Deliver engaging VAT training to both finance and non-finance teams, raising awareness and capability across the business.

About you:

• Professional qualification in tax, accounting, or law (e.g., CTA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent)
• Strong technical knowledge of UK and EU VAT legislation, including emerging trends such as e-invoicing and digital reporting
• Excellent communication skills and a track record of building strong stakeholder relationships
• Proven experience working with senior stakeholders in a client-facing role
• Self-driven, with high integrity and the ability to work autonomously
• Practical and results-oriented approach.
