Indirect Category Lead, up to £50K, close to Dewsbury

My Client a well established, National business, a leader in their niche in the construction industry and owned by an international family owned company in more than 50 countries worldwide, is looking for an experienced Indirect Category Lead to take the reins of their indirect spend management and make a measurable impact on their fast paced, growing business.
About the Role
As the Indirect Category Lead, you’ll be responsible for managing and optimising spend across Operations IT, Marketing, Professional Services, HR, Facilities, and Travel.
You’ll lead sourcing initiatives, build strategic supplier relationships, and deliver cost savings—all while ensuring procurement drives real value across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end sourcing processes (RFx, supplier evaluation, negotiation, contracting)
Develop and implement multi-year category strategies and sourcing roadmaps
Identify and deliver cost savings through data analysis, demand management, and supplier consolidation
Manage supplier performance and relationships to ensure high service levels and innovation
Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to understand business needs and translate them into procurement strategies
Ensure compliance with ESG, governance, and risk management frameworks
Direct Influence on Company Spend: Responsible for managing significant portions of the company’s indirect spend (e.g., IT, Marketing, Professional Services, Facilities) - £20m addressable spend
Cost Savings Delivery: Expected to identify and deliver 2.5 - 5% annual savings through strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and demand management
Risk, Compliance & Governance: Establishing scorecards, business reviews, and performance improvement plans. Driving ESG Compliance. Ensuring suppliers meet environmental and social responsibility standards.
Process Standardisation: Drives harmonisation of procurement processes across business units, reducing maverick spend and duplication.
Impact on Profitability: By optimising indirect spend, the role directly contributes to EBITDA improvement
Essential:
5+ years of experience in indirect procurement in a UK business
Proven track record in cost savings, process improvements, and supplier management
Strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
Analytical and data-driven decision-making ability
Excellent communication and influencing skills
Experience of running tenders
Familiarity with SAP Ariba, Coupa, or similar procurement platforms
The right to work in the UK (Sponsorship is not being offered)
5+ years of experience in indirect procurement in a UK construction business
Experience in a multi-site organisation
CIPS Level 4 or 5 qualification
