About the Role

Are you ready to make a real impact in housing finance while enjoying the flexibility of hybrid working? We’re looking for a proactive and highly organised Income Recovery Officer to join a fantastic team based in Canary Wharf.

This role is key to ensuring effective rent and service charge income recovery, supporting residents to sustain their tenancies, and delivering excellent customer service. You’ll manage a defined caseload, take early action to prevent arrears, and work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage rent accounts and housing-related debts
• Prevent arrears through early intervention (calls, letters, visits, referrals)
• Issue legal notices and attend court hearings
• Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies
• Advise residents on welfare benefits and budgeting
• Monitor income collection performance and KPIs
• Maintain accurate records using housing management systems
• Liaise with local authorities on housing benefit claims
• Provide regular updates to management and the board
• Flexibility for occasional evening/weekend work

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Experience in income recovery and rent arrears collection
• Strong knowledge of housing law and welfare benefits
• Background in housing associations or local authorities
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and landlord portals
• Experience attending court and preparing legal documentation
• Customer-focused with a commitment to tenancy sustainment

Desirable:

• Relevant qualification in housing or income management
• Bengali speaking
• Broader housing management experience
