Finance / Credit Controller

We are seeking a dedicated Finance Officer to join our clients' dynamic team as they implement a new system. This role is crucial for maintaining efficient, effective, and customer-oriented financial services. The successful candidate will handle various financial tasks, from managing accounts and processing invoices to maintaining accurate financial records and databases, with a strong emphasis on credit control.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide efficient and customer-oriented services face-to-face, by phone, and via email.
- Liaise with contractors customers, and external organisations regarding outstanding debt and funding, including issuing statements and negotiating payment plans.
- Process and raise invoices, and assist staff with these processes.
- Review and allocate payments ensuring all records and systems are accurate and up-to-date.
- Maintain records for payments processing, including bursaries, and produce relevant costing and management information.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness in updating systems and databases related to fee collection.
- Reconcile finance system data with external sources like bank statements and funding information.
- Operate and maintain cash floats following controlled procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of management information regarding outstanding debts and funding.
- Support the Income Team during enrolment and assist across the organisation as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs, Grade C or above, including English and Mathematics, or equivalent.
- Proficient in IT and spreadsheet skills, with proven use of Microsoft Office programs.
- Understanding of sales ledger accounting and debt recovery principles.
- Knowledge of funding mechanisms.
- Experience in a busy team environment, handling cash and sales ledger administration duties.
- Experience with computerised systems and databases.
- Strong skills in credit control and debt management.
