Job Description :

This In-house Counsel role will work as part of a Team which is responsible for providing legal advice and support on construction and development, from conception to completion, on some of the largest mega-infrastructure projects in the world.

Client Details

Our client is an established international infrastructure contractor, employing thousands of individuals across numerous divisions.

Description

The responsibilities of this role include the provision of day-to-day legal guidance on a variety of legal matters including

  • commercial procurement contracts,
  • construction and engineering contracts such as FIDIC and EPC models,
  • contractual dispute avoidance,
  • public procurement,
  • public private partnerships, dispute boards and arbitrations.

The post-holder will draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including:

  • contracts,
  • subcontracts,
  • consultant appointments,
  • NDAs,
  • letters of intent,
  • supply contract and purchase orders,
  • template legal documents and contracts for use by the business.

They will also seek external legal counsel advice where necessary for local law input and manage those external advisors in a cost effective manner.

Profile

There is a large amount of flexibility in the level this role could sit - likely to be a lawyer qualified in a Common Law Jurisdiction with between 2 and 10 years Post Qualification Experience.

It is essential that the successful candidate has experience of working with contracts governed by the Laws of England & Wales.

They will also have:

  • Infrastructure/construction background with exposure of project cycle preferred.
  • Experience of FIDIC contracts, commercial agreements and arbitration

Preferable:

  • In-house experience either via a Secondment or through working within an In-house Legal Team withing a relevant sector
  • An ability to travel relatively infrequently to other countries where the business has offices / live projects running.
