Job Description :

I am looking for an Experienced Import & Export Assistant to join a team based in Wolverhampton, you will be included in import and export activities and ensure duties are actioned in an accurate and timely manner. You will support a compliance controller to develop ways to streamline administration processes and procedures, within the Manufacturing sector. 

This is a full-time role, temporary to Permanent, Monday to Friday 08:30 am - 5 pm, this is a hybrid role working 2 days WFH.

Daily functions:

  • Provide import clearance instruction for all modes of transport for GB / ROI and direct shipments into Northern Ireland.  Give clearance under SDP log on spreadsheet. 
  • Oversea daily parts shipments to ROI & Northern Ireland working closely with parts supply chain to ensure information is correct and TSS declarations are completed in timely manner.  Work with Compliance Controller to ensure business is ready for Windsor Framework changes. 
  • Gather import / export documentation and ensure checks are done and our customs brokers have declared the correct codes and costs for customs purpose. 
  • Download deferment statements weekly for GB / NI / ROI and prepare monthly summary and spreadsheet for posting of import duty within set deadlines. 
  • Monitor inbox dealing with any other requests relating to import & export daily.

Knowledge required for the role:

  • Good hands-on knowledge of creating CDS Import & Export declarations and a good understanding of CDS data elements, document codes, waiver codes.
  • Knowledge of AIS & AES system for Import & Export in ROI.
  • Tariff Classification, Valuation Methods, Free Trade Agreements, T1 Transit, Tariff Preference.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain operations, international trade compliance, logistics and reverse logistics operations.
  • Knowledge of special procedures and the operation and control of SDP imports using Duty Management System (stand-alone).
  • Some knowledge of USA Export / Re-Export regulations EAR / ITAR.

Education & Experience:

  • Experience of working in a global / international company in similar industry importing parts / engines / machines etc.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience dealing with customs and international trade
  • Level 3 Certificate in Customs Compliance (UK) (customs academy)
  • SAP / DBS (desirable)
  • Experience working with Ricardo Duty Management System or similar system.
