HSE Recruitment are working with an exciting forward thinking manufacturing company with a real purpose, who are looking for a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to join the team.You will be the most senior HSE person on site, sitting on the SMT, ensuring all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) legislation are implemented and that the business complies with corporate requirements. You will have the support of a HSE Adviosr on site, a Group HSE Manager based in Europe and UK based Head of Compliance. You will drive best practice across the business and develop a strong Safety/Environmental culture.It is a fast paced, 24/7 manufacturing operation with around 500 staff on site. Safety standards are good but there is always room for improvement. For example near miss reporting is high but there is a focus now on follow up and corrective actions. From the top there is vocal support for safety but there is work to do building up the culture and accountability.Other responsibilities:
- Develop a HSE management system and implement initiatives that comply with local and national legislation and environmental standards.
- Drive a Health & Safety culture across the business.
- Develop and recommend policies, standards, procedures and systems to ensure procedures are in compliance to H&S and Environmental legislation and site standards.
- Ensure personal and environmental accidents and incidents are investigated, recorded and reported properly, identifying and recommending improved practices.
- Be the main point of contact for external agencies.
- Provide assistance and advice and carry out risk assessments in relation to safe systems of work, policies, ways of working etc, and ensure a robust review process is in place.
- Tracking and providing statistical KPIs and reports to relevant parties to drive improvements
What we are looking for:
- This role would suit an experienced health and safety advisor who is managing a similar sized site or a manager who wants a change.
- Fast paced manufacturing experience is essential
- NEBOSH Certificate level qualification
- Proactive, engaging and willing to challenge people
- Driven, proven track record of continuous improvement
- Good under pressure
- Good communicator - able to build relationships
