HR Officer - School Based (Wandsworth)

We are currently seeking a highly organised and proactive HR Officer to join a supportive and well-established school in Wandsworth. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR or administrative professional looking to further their career within education.
About the Role:
As the HR Officer, you will be responsible for providing an effective and efficient HR service to the school, supporting staff, senior leadership, and external partners across all aspects of HR administration. You'll play a key role in managing the employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance with safer recruitment, payroll processes, and data protection requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on recruitment and onboarding for teaching and support staff, ensuring full compliance with safer recruitment guidelines.
- Prepare offer letters, contracts, and variations in line with employment law and school policy.
- Manage staff records, including maintaining the Single Central Record (SCR) and the school's HR database (Arbor).
- Liaise with payroll providers regarding contract changes, absences, and allowances.
- Support line managers with absence management, probation reviews, and policy implementation.
- Oversee supply staff arrangements and liaise with agencies regarding compliance checks and timesheets.
- Provide HR guidance and first-line support to staff, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Assist with the preparation of reports for the School Workforce Census and other statutory returns.
About You:
- Proven experience in HR administration (ideally in a school or public sector environment).
- Good knowledge of HR policies, safer recruitment, and data protection.
- Experience using Arbor, SIMS, or similar HR/MIS systems is desirable.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident handling confidential information and managing multiple priorities.
- A positive, professional approach and commitment to safeguarding and equality.
