HR Officer (Maternity Cover for 12 months)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Officer to join a leading organisation based in Belfast.
This is a Full-Time, Temporary Position to cover Maternity for 12 months.
Working hours: Monday to Thursday: 8.50am – 5pm and Fridays: 8.50am – 4.25pm. (36.5 hours per week).
With an hourly rate of £14.35 per hour.
An Enhanced Access NI Check will be required.

Job Role:
You will be responsible for providing a comprehensive and confidential support service to the business HR function with a focus on payroll processes, terms and conditions and health & wellbeing.
Essential Criteria:
- At least 2 year’s recent experience, advising and working in a HR environment, with administrative experience of HR payroll processing.
- Hold a relevant university degree or professional qualification.
- CIPD qualified or working towards (minimum of Level 3).
- Excellent IT skills, with demonstrable experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, with previous experience of using HR Information Systems and E-recruitment portals.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal – with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload while adhering to deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail ensuring high levels of accuracy with proven ability to work with data.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- To coordinate the monthly transfer of information between Human Resources and Payroll, prepare reports and follow up with queries and issues with line managers.
- To ensure employee records on the Human Resources Management Information System are updated and documentation is issued to employees (e.g. letters, contracts).
- Support regular payroll reconciliation processes and ensure staff establishment information is up to date.
- Assist in ensuring that all staff records within the HR function, both manual and electronic, are kept in accordance with data protection guidelines.
- Provide advice and guidance on employee terms and conditions and prepare associated correspondence and escalate to the Senior Human Resources Officer as required.
- Advise on annual leave entitlement and undertake end of year processes and calculations.
- Advise on family leave entitlements and draft associated correspondence and update records.
- Attend disciplinary, grievance and Dignity at Work meetings in a notetaking capacity and to compile records, as required.
- Assist with the coordination and administration of recruitment processes, as required.
- Participate in selection interviews as the Human Resources representative, as appropriate.
- To assist in the preparation and delivery of the induction programme, as required.
- To prepare absence management reports (to include weekly update report for the Senior HR Officer and trigger point reports) ensure records are up to date and liaise with managers and the Senior Human Resources Officer to ensure absence management processes are carried out.
- To make Occupational Health referrals and liaise with Occupational Health and line managers regarding implementation of recommendations.
- Process eye test claims in line with the business procedures.
- Coordinate work station assessments and ensure recommendations are actioned.
- Ensure the First Aid list is up to date and staff training is up to date and an annual refresher is offered.
