Job Description :

Reed HR are currently looking for a proactive and experienced standalone HR Manager who thrives in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment.

  • Full time - 37.5 hrs per week
  • Hybrid working - 2 days at home after probation
  • 26 days holiday pro-rata, plus bank holidays

The role:

You’ll act as a trusted partner to the leadership team, working across the full employee lifecycle while building strong relationships at every level.

This role is ideal for someone confident leading change, building culture, and developing people in a complex and growing organisation. 

  • Proactively design and implement clear, consistent HR policies, processes, and documentation (including process flows and guidance materials)
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across HR, people development, and quality compliance
  • Develop and maintain internal HR documentation, trackers, templates, and policies in line with ISO 9001 and pharma-GMP standards Payroll, Systems & Reporting
  • Oversee and approve monthly payroll inputs (outsourced provider), ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
  • Ensure accurate handling of benefits, pensions, leave, and deductions
  • Manage and maintain employee data in BreatheHR, ensuring records are complete and up to date
  • Create and maintain HR dashboards and reports for the MD and board (e.g. headcount, turnover, absence, engagement, pay benchmarking)
  • Lead or support on employee relations cases including performance, grievance, disciplinary, sickness absence and flexible working Handle or support tribunal preparation and liaison with external legal advisors where required
  • Provide training and coaching to managers to ensure consistent, confident handling of people issues
  • Monitor legislative changes and ensure compliance with UK employment law, ISO, and GMP obligations
  • Partner with department heads to define development needs and facilitate training solutions
  • Strengthen internal communication practices and help embed company values at all levels
  • Support team leaders in driving engagement, wellbeing, and inclusion across their teams
  • Recruitment, Onboarding & Retention Lead recruitment from job scoping to onboarding, in collaboration with line managers and external agencies
  • Ensure clear and engaging onboarding materials, checklists, and induction processes are in place
  • Monitor retention, exit interviews, and candidate feedback to improve the employee lifecycle

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years of HR generalist experience in a standalone or senior role
  • Strong understanding of UK employment law and employee relations, including tribunal preparation
  • Experience with payroll review processes and working with outsourced providers
  • Proficient with HR systems (e.g. BreatheHR, Workday, Oracle, or similar)
  • Experience documenting policies, procedures, and process flows
  • Proven track record of supporting L&D and driving a positive, values-led culture

Desirable:

  • CIPD Level 7 or equivalent strategic HR qualification/experience
  • Experience in a regulated or ISO/GMP-compliant environment
  • Experience supporting audits and external compliance reviews
  • Exposure to internal comms, engagement surveys, or inclusion strategies

Salary : 45000 - 55000
