Description

  • Act as the sole HR Business Partner for the Portsmouth manufacturing site
  • Partner with the new site lead to build and sustain a people strategy aligned to business goals
  • Lead initiatives on engagement, analysing data and implementing plans to improve results
  • Support managers across the employee lifecycle, from onboarding to development and succession planning
  • Provide guidance on employee relations, working with the wider ER team when needed
  • Drive performance and development processes, ensuring coaching and talent growth
  • Play an active role on the manufacturing floor, engaging directly with employees
  • Manage a balance of strategic (approx. 60%) and operational/hands-on (approx. 40%) HR tasks
  • Collaborate with HR shared services to streamline processes and implement change (e.g., ticketing system)
  • Build trust and credibility with leadership while challenging and influencing in the right way

Profile

A successful HR Business Partner should have:

  • Strong HR Business Partnering background with proven experience in a matrix/global environment
  • Ideally experience within manufacturing or similar "hands-on" industry environment
  • Comfortable acting as sole HR lead on-site with autonomy and accountability
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations and engagement initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills
  • Personable, approachable, with an open-door style - able to engage across all levels
  • Confident to challenge leadership constructively and push back when needed
  • Balances strategic thinking with hands-on delivery
  • Collaborative mindset, aligned with a culture of continuous improvement
  • Resilient, easygoing, and adaptable to a dynamic environment
