Job Description :

Higher are a boutique recruitment agency specialising in the HR and Marketing professions. We are pleased to inform you of a new role that we are working on for one of our clients:

Position: HR Advisor (10-month FTC)Salary: £33,000 - £35,000Location: Bolton (onsite)

What’s the background?

We’re working with a progressive and modern education provider that’s passionate about creating a great working environment for their people.

You’ll be joining a small, friendly, and high-performing HR team who are known for supporting the business with practical advice and helping to deliver meaningful projects that improve how they do things.

This is a 10-month fixed-term contract to support the team through a period of high work due to various projects happening.

What’s the role?

This is a true HR generalist role where you’ll support managers and employees with a range of queries, provide advice on day-to-day HR issues, and help keep everything running smoothly.

You’ll also get to contribute to several improvement projects currently on the agenda — from revamping induction processes and improving HRIS reporting to supporting initiatives like menopause awareness and wellbeing.

Employee relations is a relatively small part of the job — most cases are low-level — so this would suit someone who enjoys the broader aspects of HR as well as building relationships across the business but who is confident and experienced at handling various ER matters.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide advice and guidance to managers and staff on HR policies, processes, and employment matters
  • Support on low-level employee relations issues, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes
  • Take ownership of BAU HR tasks such as recruitment coordination, contract changes, and onboarding
  • Maintain accurate HR data and contribute to improving HRIS reporting
  • Play a hands-on role in HR improvement projects (e.g. induction materials, wellbeing initiatives)
  • Build strong, trusted relationships across the business

Who are we looking for?

  • Previous experience in a generalist HR Advisor role (ideally with Level 5 CIPD or working towards)
  • Confident advising managers on day-to-day HR matters and handling low-level ER cases
  • Someone who enjoys being part of a collaborative, supportive team while managing their own workload
  • A proactive approach and willingness to get stuck into a mix of BAU and project work

The package includes:

  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Outstanding pension contribution (21%)
  • Study support if working towards CIPD
  • A genuinely welcoming and collaborative team culture

If you’re an experienced HR Advisor looking for an interesting contract role where you can make a difference without being bogged down in heavy ER, this could be the perfect fit.

Salary : 33000 - 35000
