Housing Solutions Officer
  • Pay Rate: £15.48 per hour PAYE
  • Location: Sheffield City Council
  • Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (2 months)

Sheffield City Council are looking for a Housing Solutions Officer to join our Ukraine Resettlement Team. This role is crucial in supporting Ukrainian refugees and their hosts, helping families rebuild their lives and integrate into the Sheffield community. Day-to-day of the role:
  • Conduct interviews, undertake housing needs and homelessness assessments within statutory and policy frameworks, and provide ongoing support.
  • Carry out home visits, as well as visits to hospitals and other relevant sites.
  • Prevent homelessness, hospital admissions, and delayed discharges from various supported and institutional accommodations.
  • Collect and manage information for applications from a variety of sources.
  • Progress cases from application to final outcome, including administration of reviews and collection of additional required information.
  • Provide information on all available housing, support, and other related services.
  • Make decisions within legal and policy frameworks to provide positive outcomes for clients.
  • Assist clients in accessing specialist support services as required (e.g., advocacy services, tenancy support).
  • Support clients through the Council’s Lettings Policy, including assistance with the bidding process.
  • Perform office duty work and liaise with other statutory and voluntary sector organisations.
  • Arrange interim accommodation with the Interim Accommodation Team where required.
  • Manage own targets specific to the post and assist in reaching all targets across the Housing Solutions Service.
  • Respond to customer queries and complaints, including handling telephone, mail, and electronic enquiries.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of people.
  • Experience in housing solutions, homelessness prevention, or a related field.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to delivering customer-focused service.
  • Enthusiasm for continual improvement in service delivery.
  • You will need a Valid Enhanced DBS on the update Service
