- PAYE: £16.90 – £18.87 per hour
- Umbrella: £21.39 – £23.93 per hour
About the Role
My client, an established Local Authority in Maidenhead are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Housing Options Officer to join their team to help deliver a high-quality Housing Options and Homelessness Prevention service. This is a vital role in supporting residents with housing issues, preventing homelessness, and fulfilling the Council’s statutory duties under the Housing Act 1996.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert housing advice face-to-face, by phone, and online.
- Conduct outreach visits to homes, prisons, hostels, hospitals, and other locations.
- Assess homelessness applications under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.
- Explore all housing options to prevent homelessness and reduce reliance on temporary accommodation.
- Investigate landlord/tenant disputes and prepare prosecution files where necessary.
- Deliver training and awareness sessions to stakeholders and colleagues.
- Participate in a call-out rota for emergency homelessness advice and placements.
- Maintain accurate case records and meet performance targets.
What We’re Looking For:
Qualifications:
- 4 GCSEs including Maths & English.
- A-levels / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (HND/NVQ4 desirable).
- Housing qualification (attained or in progress).
- NVQ2 in Customer Service and/or Project Management training (desirable).
Experience and Skills:
- Strong understanding of housing issues and homelessness legislation.
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals in high-pressure situations.
- Background in Housing Needs, Local Authority Lettings, or similar.
- Proven ability to manage sensitive information and complex caseloads.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyse data and present findings clearly.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to travel efficiently across the Borough.
- Clean driving licence and ability to drive a Council vehicle (desirable).
