Location: Hybrid - Local Authority in Berkshire – approx. 1 day per week in officeContract: Temporary contract until March 2026Start Date: Immediate

They are piloting an enhanced Household Support Fund scheme that provides joined-up support and extra financial help, aiming to reduce enforcement action and improve financial resilience for local households.

As a Household Support Fund Top-up Grant Assessor, you will play a key role in delivering immediate financial assistance while helping residents achieve long-term stability.

What You’ll Do

  • Assess grant applications quickly and accurately.
  • Provide tailored advice on benefits, budgeting, and income maximisation.
  • Signpost residents to debt advice and other essential support services.
  • Reduce arrears and recovery actions through early engagement and sustainable repayment plans.
  • Deliver immediate financial assistance while promoting lasting positive change.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong knowledge of benefits, housing, or debt advice.
  • Proven experience in customer-facing roles (phone, email, or face-to-face).
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently and work under pressure.

Working Arrangements

  • Hybrid working: approximately one day per week in the office.
