Health and Safety Officer

My client is seeking a proactive and experienced Health and Safety Officer to support their Health and Safety Manager in developing, maintaining, and improving their Safety Management System across all business units within the EMEA region. This role is ideal for someone who is adaptable, has a strong background in occupational health and safety, and is capable of ensuring compliance with local legislation through effective communication and training.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Support the implementation and continual improvement of the Safety Management System across all business units.
- Act as the point of contact for all health and safety matters for allocated areas and divisions across EMEA.
- Provide specialist advice and guidance in line with territorial safety legislation to all stakeholders.
- Travel across EMEA to conduct risk assessments, ensure the implementation of safe systems of work, and carry out regular audits.
- Develop and support safety action plans and training programmes.
- Conduct health and safety inductions for new employees and contractors.
- Review and assist in the development of health and safety procedures, documentation, and training processes.
- Ensure health and safety documentation is adequate and appropriately translated for various territories.
- Investigate accidents and near-miss incidents, recording findings and ensuring compliance during site visits and inspections.
- Support the business during local authority engagements and maintain relationships with external service providers to ensure high levels of service and compliance.
- Drive a strong health and safety culture and support behavioral change programs within the company.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent level 3 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a multi-national environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Ability to travel within the UK and across EMEA, including some evening and weekend work.
- Desirable: Multilingual in an EMEA language and international experience.
