Title: Head of Tax

Location: Central London – 1 day WFH per week

Salary: £100k – £130k bonus and benefits

The Company:

Our client is a listed, global Oil & Gas group with operations spanning multiple continents. Known for its market-leading position and long-term growth strategy, the business operates in a complex and dynamic regulatory environment. With a strong finance function at its core, they are seeking a skilled Head of Tax to join their London headquarters.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of tax compliance, reporting, and governance within a sector that is both high-profile and globally impactful.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage preparation and submission of UK CT600 returns, including Ring Fence Corporation Tax, Supplementary Charge, and Petroleum Revenue Tax (if applicable).
  • Manage the group’s UK and international tax compliance obligations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to evolving tax legislation.
  • Ensure accurate and timely tax reporting under IFRS/UK GAAP and provide input into group consolidated reporting.
  • Provide guidance on transfer pricing, thin capitalisation, and intercompany arrangements.
  • Support structuring of joint ventures, financing arrangements, and cross-border supply chain operations.
  • Maintain a robust tax risk management and governance framework across both jurisdictions.
  • Liaise with HMRC and overseas tax authorities during audits, reviews, and information requests.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation relevant to the oil and gas sector and assess their impact on the group.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in tax compliance and reporting to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Candidate Requirements:

  • ACA/ACCA/CTA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Significant UK corporate tax experience, ideally within oil & gas / energy sector (practice or in-house).
  • Strong understanding of UK corporate tax, with exposure to international tax matters.
  • Experience with IFRS tax reporting requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across finance, legal, and operational teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in tax reporting systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
