Reporting to the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer, the role of the Head of Risk will lead, shape, and provide oversight over the strategic vision, plans, strategy, framework, and processes for Risk Management activities across Reassured, providing day to day pragmatic and proportionate risk advice and support to the business.

Whilst the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer will maintain ultimate responsibility over all aspects of compliance and risk within the second line, the Head of Risk has delegated responsibility for the oversight, development, maintenance and performance of the framework, strategy, process, reporting and governance, ensuring it continues to support future strategic growth.

In line with the SM&CR regulation, individuals involved with the delivery of products offered by the Company will be held personally accountable and liable for ensuring that they act with Integrity, care and in the interests of the Customers and in co-operation with the regulators by abiding by the conduct rules.

Responsibilites

• Working with stakeholders across the business in all functions

• Establish, maintain, and lead the delivery/ embedding of the overall risk strategy and Risk Management Framework;

• Assess and report on the capability and adherence of the framework and provide an overall risk maturity assessment through the relevant governance committee;

• Establish, maintain, and lead on the delivery/ embedding of risk management policies;

• Providing the provision of expert and professional advice and guidance to key stakeholders of all levels across the business on all risk management matters, including risk and control best practice that supports the business in achieving its strategic objectives, whilst operating within risk appetite;

• Lead the development and collation of risk reporting for Risk Committee, ExCo and Reassured and Rosy TopCo Board as and when required, to enable effective risk governance;

• Monitor, report and oversee the enhancement of the control environment, ensuring that they are fit for purpose, operating effectively and support the delivery of business objectives;

• Establish, develop, and lead on the delivery of the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and Risk Maturity Assessment;

• Oversee First Line review of effectiveness and adherence to the Risk Management Framework and risk management process;

• Ensure business incidents are raised, recorded, and managed appropriately

• Own and deliver risk management training and awareness programmes as appropriate to help develop and maintain a risk aware culture; and

• Lead on embedding a risk aware culture throughout the business by actively cultivating and maintaining stakeholder relationships, providing advice on risk management issues, and demonstrating the benefits.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• In-depth technical knowledge of risk management frameworks (enterprise and operational), policies and strategies and aligning them to vision and strategic growth;

• In depth knowledge of designing, maintaining, enhancing, and overseeing risk and policy frameworks

• Ability to diagnose and articulate material weaknesses and identify proportionate and pragmatic solutions

• Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business, with the ability to influence at Senior Manager, Director and Exec Director level;

• Awareness and understanding of operational, conduct and enterprise risk

• Ability to be able to provide proactive, pragmatic and proportionate risk advice on inherent and emerging risk

• Ability to analyse data and make clear decisions

• Ability to build stakeholders relationships across all levels of the business, including Executive Management and Board members

• Previous experience (a minimum of 5 years) in a senior risk management role (first or second line of defence), or as a consultant, within the financial services industry;

• Previous experience in developing and/or maintaining risk management policies, frameworks and supporting processes;

• Previous experience in managing and working with risk and control frameworks within first line.

Qualifications

• Educated to A level or equivalent

• Compliance qualification desired but not essential
