Head of Procurement

Our client seeking a Head of Procurement and Commercial Services with extensive public procurement experience at a senior level. This role is essential for supporting the organisation during a period of transition and team re-design. The successful candidate will play a key role in the recruitment of the permanent procurement team and provide high-level procurement advice on complex projects.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Support the recruitment of the permanent procurement team upon completion of the ongoing consultation of the proposed redesign.
- Manage progressive pipeline to contract register work. Provide high-level procurement advice on complex projects.
- Review team reports and documents relating to procurement strategies, tenders, and awards.
- Coordinate team FOIs.
- Support on council-wide project boards where procurement representation is needed.
- Perform all other typical duties expected of a Head of Procurement.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Public procurement experience at a senior level (Head of or above) is essential.
- MCIPS (or equivalent) qualification.
- Preference for candidates with Project Management Qualifications.
- Must have completed PA23 Government Commercial Function 10 PA23 modules.
- Candidates who are advanced practitioners (3-day deep dive completed) will be prioritised.
- Local Authority experience is advantageous.
