Isio is seeking an experienced, customer-focused, and results-oriented Head of Pensioner Payroll to manage our dynamic team. With a track record of managing a complex and growing portfolio of payroll operations across a variety of pensions schemes, the ideal candidate will be at the forefront of delivering industry leading pensioner payroll services across our customer base of 140,000 pensioners.

This role can be based in Birmingham or Belfast with a hybrid workstyle.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operation and outputs of a talented team of payroll professionals based in Birmingham and Belfast ensuring accurate and timely execution of a high number of pensioner payrolls.
  • Lead the design and implementation of Strategy: best practice payroll, plans, policies, and procedures to aid and improve customer service, operational performance and risk management.
  • Manage overall pension payment procedures to ensure timely and accurate processing of pension payments to all pensioner customers.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements. Coordinate closely with the company's other functions to ensure streamlined operations and superior customer service. Lead and develop the team in technical and people skills in support of Isio values and behaviours, providing leadership, direction, and coaching to to ensure they are able to perform their roles to high performance.
  • Proactively manage team resources, assessing workloads and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Innovate and maintain a thorough knowledge of current payroll legislation, pension regulations and standard operational procedures in pension management to ensure compliance.
  • Manage the resolution of any payroll related discrepancies.
  • Maintain transparent communication and cultivate a positive and motivational atmosphere within the team.
  • Monitor and manage risks associated with pensioner payroll services, taking appropriate action where necessary.
  • Present reports on pensioner payroll to senior management and stakeholders as required.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Have proven experience in a similar role within the pensions or professional services / financial sector.
  • Passionate with a laser-focus on customer service excellence.
  • Possess excellent leadership, management, and people skills.
  • Have outstanding numerical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Have strong knowledge of payroll systems and pension regulations.
  • Have exceptional organisational skills with the ability to handle and prioritise multiple tasks with good experience of managing multiple payrolls.
  • Have demonstrable experience in delivering results in a high-pressure environment.
  • Be highly PC literate with a strong working knowledge of payroll management software packages.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be a qualified payroll professional through academic or working experience.
  • Any relevant pension qualifications are advantageous.
