Head of Payroll - Citadel Source Limited : Job Details

Citadel Source is exclusively partnering with a successful company based in Bristol City Centre to recruit an experienced Head of Payroll to join their finance team.

The role

Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for overseeing the smooth and efficient operation of payroll processes across the UK and Ireland. This pivotal role ensures the accurate, compliant, and timely processing of all payroll activities, while also driving continuous improvement initiatives within the function.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience in a similar senior payroll position, with a strong understanding of both payroll operations and core accounting principles. You will be highly organised and detail-oriented, with excellent communication and advanced Excel skills. Knowledge of Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment is essential, as is a strong understanding of UK and Irish tax, pension, and employment legislation. Ideally, you will have a CIPP qualification or equivalent.

As a Head of Payroll, your role will include, but not be limited to:

• Lead and manage the end-to-end payroll function
• Oversee payroll processing across multiple entities
• Manage TUPE transfers, acquisitions, and organisational restructures
• Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation and statutory requirements
• Lead payroll audits and maintain robust internal controls
• Provide leadership and guidance to the payroll team
