Head of OD & Change

We are seeking a Head of OD & Change to lead Business-wide transformation programmes, driving organisational excellence and embedding values-based leadership. This role involves close collaboration with Elected Members, Strategic Directors, and management teams to challenge the status quo, foster sustainable change, and identify opportunities for development. The ideal candidate will ensure effective engagement and accountability to deliver results while managing risks and interdependencies.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Initiate, lead, and manage complex organisational development and transformation programmes across a broad range of services within a large, complex organisation, achieving significant outcomes.
- Work closely with Elected Members, Strategic Directors, and management teams to foster sustainable change and development.
- Manage organisational development and change, including policy development and corporate/strategic planning.
- Manage people effectively within a customer-focused, internal service delivery environment.
- Handle successful budget management in a comparable organisation, including evaluation of competing budgetary priorities within tight financial limits.
- Apply performance management and quality assurance processes in service delivery.
- Utilise knowledge of current Local Government democratic processes and understanding of the political context.
- Apply risk management in setting strategy and in identifying and managing principal risks to achievement of objectives.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- CIPD qualification (Essential).
- Proven experience in leading and managing complex organisational development and transformation programmes.
- Substantial direct management experience within organisational development and change.
- Successful budget management experience in a comparable organisation.
- Expertise in performance management and quality assurance processes.
- Knowledge of current Local Government democratic processes and understanding of the political context.
- Strong project management skills and experience in delivering services to set standards.
