An international consumer goods business within the FMCG sector is looking to appoint an experienced Head of Human Resources and Training. This is a pivotal opportunity within a fast-paced, growth-oriented organisation, supporting both UK operations and international teams across Europe and North America.
This is a brand-new vacancy in the organisation, and we are ideally looking for someone based in Bristol, or along the M4 corridor.
Overview
This role combines strategic leadership with operational delivery, overseeing all aspects of HR and training across multiple geographies. The successful candidate will lead integration efforts following acquisitions, embed consistent HR practices across regions, and drive employee engagement, talent development, and organisational transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Partnering
- Lead HR strategy and operations for UK offices, providing guidance to international teams.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on all people-related matters.
- Support engagement and change management initiatives across the business.
Compliance & International Support
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation in the UK and across European and US locations.
- Manage relationships with external providers for legal, payroll, and compliance services.
- Maintain consistent HR documentation, adapted to local requirements.
Talent Management & Development
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning activities.
- Deliver learning and development programmes to support capability building.
- Contribute to succession planning and inclusion initiatives.
M&A & Integration
- Lead HR integration of newly acquired businesses.
- Align policies, systems, and processes across regions.
- Support business transformation projects through people-focused solutions.
HR Operations & Reporting
- Manage compensation, benefits, and payroll coordination across countries.
- Monitor and report on HR metrics and KPIs to support data-driven decisions.
- Drive continuous improvement across HR and training functions.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Degree in HR or related field (CIPD Level 5+ desirable).
- Minimum 5 years' HR experience, including 2+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law; exposure to European and/or US employment frameworks preferred.
- Experience working in the FMCG or consumer goods sector.
- Demonstrated ability to lead HR across multiple countries or business units.
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrable experience in a growth environment, Mergers & Acquisitions
Desirable
- Familiarity with HR systems and global process alignment.
- Knowledge of regulated business environments.
- Strong change management and analytical capabilities.
