Role Overview
The Head of Finance will be a strategic and hands-on leader, responsible for overseeing the financial management, planning, reporting, and control functions of the company. This role will partner closely with the CFO, supporting the executive team and Founder in driving growth, profitability, and operational efficiency.
With succession planning in mind, the Head of Finance will be developed as a potential future CFO, gaining exposure to strategic initiatives, fundraising, and investor relations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Control
- Lead and develop the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls, processes, and systems are in place.
- Oversee statutory reporting, audit, tax compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning cycles.
Strategic Business Partnering
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support commercial decision-making across product, technology, and operations.
- Partner with the CFO on fundraising
- Support the Board and executive team with clear, accurate, and timely financial updates.
Operational Excellence
- Drive process improvements and automation within finance to support scaling.
- Lead financial risk management, including treasury, cash flow, and capital allocation.
Leadership & Development
- Manage and mentor a high-performing finance team.
- Develop strong cross-functional relationships across the business.
- Act as deputy to the CFO, stepping in as needed and preparing for potential succession to CFO role.
Skills & Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
- Proven track record in financial leadership with wealth or retail investments.
- Strong technical finance knowledge (reporting, audit, tax, controls) combined with commercial acumen.
- Experience in high-growth and/or scaling businesses; exposure to fundraising.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Ambition and capability to step into a CFO role in the future.
