Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies that support our research mission and long-term sustainability
  • Oversee diverse funding portfolios including government grants, private foundations, corporate partnerships and international collaborations
  • Partner with research leaders to structure, monitor, and optimise funding for multi-year, multi-disciplinary research programmes
  • Ensure rigorous compliance with charity regulations, grant conditions, and international funding requirements
  • Build and lead a high-performing finance team across multiple locations and functions
  • Present to trustees, funders, government bodies, and research partners with confidence and clarity
  • Drive digital transformation of financial systems to support our growing complexity and scale
What We're Looking ForEssential:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Proven track record in complex organisations, ideally within not-for-profit, research, or higher education sectors
  • Deep understanding of charity finance, grant accounting, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience managing diverse funding streams and restricted funds
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience building and developing teams
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Advanced stakeholder management and communication abilities
Desirable:
  • Experience with research funding bodies
  • Knowledge of international finance and multi-currency operations
  • Background in project finance or programme management
  • Understanding of intellectual property and commercialisation processes
