Head of Data / Data Owner - Robert Half : Job Details

Robert Half is recruiting for an Interim Head of Data (Banking Domain)

Robert Half is supporting a global consulting firm in appointing an Interim Head of Data to join as an associate on a high-impact engagement within the banking sector. This role is ideal for someone who has previously led data governance, quality, or domain ownership functions in a bank or financial services firm and can operate confidently across business, risk, and technology teams.

Contract Assignment Details:

• Location: London (Hybrid)
• Start Date: ASAP
• Contract Length: 6 months initially
• Rate: £Day/day via umbrella PAYE options available (with employer's NI & tax deducted at source unlike umbrella companies, no admin fees)

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and own a defined set of banking data domains (e.g. loans, treasury, financial products)
• Act as the single point of accountability for data quality, lineage, metadata, and classification
• Coordinate with business and tech to ensure data is fit for purpose and well-governed
• Drive remediation of data quality issues, supporting analytics, reporting, and regulatory needs
• Define and document controls, ownership models, and governance standards
• Engage with risk, compliance, and regulatory teams to align with frameworks (e.g. BCBS 239, GDPR, DORA)

Background:

• Proven experience as a Head of Data, Data Owner, or equivalent role in banking
• Strong knowledge of loan products, treasury data, or investment product data
• Familiar with metadata and data lineage tooling (e.g. Databricks, Collibra, Alation - beneficial but not essential)
• Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Able to work in a fast-paced consulting environment with a hands-on, delivery-focused mindset
