Head of Category Home and Furniture - Quest Search and Selection Ltd : Job Details

Quest Search and Selection is currently looking for Head of Category - Home & Furniture to take ownership of categories such as Furniture, Home Décor, Home Textiles, Storage solution etc. Responsible for cultivating and managing supplier partnerships to secure high-quality, in-demand products. This is a unique opportunity to shape category strategy from the ground up.

The business is for a retail e-commerce platform with operations in the UK & Europe, who is currently growing their FMCG category team! Their advanced technology offers fast and reliable delivery services, within hours or by the next day. With 1st class, supply chain at its core & cutting-edge digital solutions, this business is renowned for its innovation and excellence, all within a start-up culture.

The roles & responsibilities of this Head of Category - Home & Furniture role:

• Develop and implement category strategies from the ground up, ensuring alignment with overarching business goals.
• Lead the sourcing, selection, and onboarding of brands and products, overseeing the full lifecycle from negotiation to launch.
• Design and enhance category storefronts to improve customer navigation and product discovery.
• Operate effectively in resource-limited settings, leveraging manual processes while laying the groundwork for scalable systems.
• Use customer insights, behavioural data, and performance metrics to uncover growth and optimisation opportunities.
• Partner with suppliers and internal stakeholders to plan and deliver high-impact promotional campaigns.
• Oversee inventory, pricing, and promotional tactics to maximise revenue and margin.
• Excel in ambiguous situations, proactively developing solutions and adapting to dynamic business needs.

The qualifications of this Head of Category - Home & Furniture Role:

• Ideally having 8- 15 years' experience in Category Management or Buying experience
• Experience within one of more of the Home & Living, Furniture, Outdoor , Home Accessories, Furnishing etc categories specifically in the European Retail and eCommerce markets.
• Managing a team of 3-5 + people.
• That you have extensive buying experience within the NL & Dutch market & consumer
• Deep market knowledge paired with a proactive mindset to challenge and innovate traditional approaches.
• Strong negotiation skills that consistently deliver top-tier product margins and compelling customer offers.
• Energetic and entrepreneurial in approach, with a strong sense of ownership and a result-driven attitude to execute at speed.
• Exceptional communication and analytical thinking.
• Quick to learn and adapt, with a commercially driven mindset.
