The Opportunity:Nigel Wright Group is delighted to have been appointed to support a private equity backed engineering service provider, with the recruitment of a Head of Business Development North, as it invests for growth. The customer sectors include defence & aerospace, semiconductors, cleantech, biotech, medtech and broader hightech. Services include CNC machining, metal fabrication, and electrical / mechanical assembly. The role will be remote based, with responsibility for a small team.
Role Profile: - Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
- Line managing a small business development team.
- Designing and implementing the business development strategy for the Midlands, North of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
- Mapping and targeting sector specific prospective customers.
- Holding personal accountability for end to end sale cycle activities with prospective customers.
- Key focus on developing new business in defence and aerospace.
- Technical engagement with customers, including reading of engineering drawings and advising accordingly on solutions and services that can be offered.
- Closing sales and revenue generating.
- Coaching and developing the team of two, to operate in a similar manner.
- The position will be remote / home / market based, with occasional trips to head office in the South East.
Person Specification: - A track record in new business development within the engineering sector.
- A technical background with the ability to read drawings and engage with engineering contacts within customer organisations.
- The ability to identify opportunities from an engineering shop floor environment.
- Comfortable with extensive customer facing travel around the Midlands, the North, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
- Comfortable with periodic travel to the company HQ in the South East.
