Our Derby-based client is looking for a ‘hands on’ Group Payroll Manager to join them as soon as possible on a temporary basis with a view to becoming permanent. This is a pivotal role in leading the transition of four separate in-house payrolls onto one unified system (SAGE) and supporting the move from salaried to hourly-paid staff.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take a high-level, strategic view of payroll operations while still staying close enough to the detail to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the integration of payrolls from four companies within the group into one SAGE payroll system
- Manage the transition from salaried to hourly pay structures
- Oversee and support the Payroll Administrator, who handles much of the data input
- Take ownership of payroll queries, pension administration, reporting, and liaison with managers across the business
- Work closely with finance on payroll-related duties and ensure compliance with legislation
- Happy to assist with inputting of payroll data when volumes rise
About You:
- Strong experience in payroll management, ideally with multi-site or group structures
- Confident in SAGE payroll systems
- Skilled in managing change and process improvement
- Able to take a “helicopter view” of operations while ensuring the detail is right
- Excellent communicator who can work collaboratively across departments
Benefits and hours:
- Competitive salary up to £47,000 (DOE)
- Working hours of 8:30 am until 4:30 pm (30 minutes for lunch)
- 25 days holiday bank holidays
- Opportunity to make a real impact in a key transitional period for the business
- Supportive working environment in a well-established Derby-based company
