Assistant Product Engineer

• Location: Luton, Bedfordshire
• Salary: Circa £25,000 per annum
• Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking an Assistant Product Engineer to join our Technical Department. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for electrical product development and a keen eye for detail. The successful candidate will support senior engineers and ensure our products meet the highest standards of safety and quality.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Support senior engineers in the development of electrical products in collaboration with manufacturing partners.
• Assist with the testing and evaluation of products, accurately recording test results and reporting on required improvements.
• Establish product and packaging labelling and marking requirements in line with industry standards.
• Produce and maintain technical literature, including product specifications and packaging specifications.
• Ensure all products comply with relevant BS EN safety standards and directives, including EMC, REACH, and RoHS.
• Maintain up-to-date technical support files, including WEEE and packaging weight data.
• Work closely with the Quality Team to investigate product issues, report findings, and manage product improvements with partner factories.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably with a focus on electrical or manufacturing engineering.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, product standards, and a quality approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to identify product features and benefits.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Methodical and organised with a disciplined approach to work problems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently using initiative and as part of a multi-functional team.
