Rotherwood Education are currently looking for a motivated and enthusiastic German Teacher to join a forward-thinking secondary school in the Colne area from September 2025.

About the role:

As a German Teacher, you will play a key part in a vibrant and collaborative Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) department, delivering high-quality lessons that ignite curiosity and passion for the German language and culture. You’ll be instrumental in helping students communicate confidently, think internationally, and achieve academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging and inclusive lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Support learners of all abilities, using creative strategies to tailor lessons to individual needs.
• Encourage student participation through dynamic and interactive teaching methods.
• Contribute to the development of the MFL curriculum and departmental resources.
• Create a positive and respectful classroom environment that promotes progress and achievement.

The ideal German Teacher will:

• Hold QTS, QTLS, PGCE, or an equivalent teaching qualification in Modern Foreign Languages.
• Have recent experience teaching German within a UK secondary school, ideally at both Key Stage 3 and 4.
• Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and a genuine love for German language and culture.
• Show confidence in classroom management and the ability to foster a safe, respectful learning environment.
• Be proactive, creative, and committed to ongoing professional development.
• Be an excellent communicator and team player who thrives in a collaborative setting.

Requirements:

• Relevant teaching qualification (QTS/QTLS/PGCE or equivalent)
• Proven track record or relevant school-based experience
• A current, enhanced DBS on the update service, or be willing to apply for one
• Relevant references to support your application
• Willingness to attend a face-to-face registration and complete necessary vetting checks
